Choose which duplicates merge automatically
Automatic merging in MergeGuard for Shopify merges strong matches, where the details match closely, while your plan has merges left. Groups that need your judgment are included only if you add them. Protected profiles never merge automatically. It stays off until you turn it on, and it comes with Growth, Scale and Enterprise.

Demo store (Northsail Supply)
You confirm the same obvious group again and again
Some groups need a careful look. Others share the same email, phone and address, and you confirm them the same way every time. In a store with a long list of duplicates, those obvious groups use your afternoon before you reach the ones that need your judgment. Automatic merging hands the obvious ones over under two settings you control, and keeps everything else in front of you.

How it works
Switch it on in Settings
Turn on Merge strong matches automatically. It applies to groups MergeGuard finds or updates after you turn it on. Until then, every merge waits for your confirmation.
Choose which groups it covers
Merge strong matches automatically covers strong matches. Turn on Also merge groups that need your judgment only if you want those too.
Exclude the customers you want left alone
List tags under Automatic merging skips groups with these tags. Groups with those tags wait for your review.
MergeGuard merges while you have merges left
Groups that qualify merge, Shopify verifies each one, and History records it. Automatic work stops before your allowance runs out.
Know when your allowance runs low
MergeGuard emails you at 80% of your allowance used and again at 0.
Allowance and safety limits
Your plan sets your merge allowance. One merge combines two profiles into one, so a group of five profiles uses four merges. Automatic merging comes with Growth, at 300 merges a month, and Scale, at 500. Enterprise has a custom allowance. Monthly plans get a new allowance every month. Yearly plans get the whole year’s merges at the start: 3,600 on Growth and 6,000 on Scale. See pricing for every plan.
Automatic work stops before your allowance runs out. Every automatic merge ends with Shopify’s verification and a History record, the same as one you confirm yourself. Read how MergeGuard keeps merges safe for the full set of guardrails.
