Contact fix

A suggested correction to a customer’s mistyped email, such as gmial.com to gmail.com, applied after you confirm it, or applied automatically for domain typos if you switch that on. A contact fix can be undone once.

A typo in an email address means the customer stops hearing from you, and they may never know why. One merchant passed on a customer’s question: “Why haven’t I gotten an email? I buy from you every month.” (merchant report) Typos also create duplicates when the shopper later checks out with the right address.

MergeGuard for Shopify finds likely typos and suggests a correction. When you fix them yourself, a confirmation shows how many emails will change before anything is applied. You can also switch on automatic fixes for domain typos. When the corrected address already belongs to another customer, there is no fix: the pair goes to Duplicates. A contact fix doesn’t change the customer’s subscription. Help explains the undo and what a fix costs. See also contact fixes.
