Automatic merging
A MergeGuard setting that merges strong matches without a confirmation for each group, and groups that need your judgment only if you add them. It stays off until you turn it on.

Automatic merging is for the groups you would confirm anyway. Each merge is still permanent, and if any merged profile is subscribed to marketing, the merged customer stays subscribed, so it suits only matches you would approve without a second look. Protected profiles, the ones Shopify won’t merge, are never merged automatically.
Help explains the settings and the plans that include them. See also automatic merging.
