What MergeGuard asks Shopify for
MergeGuard asks Shopify for permission to read and change customers, read and make customer merges, read orders (including older orders), and read products, discounts and reports.Customers and orders are what a merge needs: the customer profiles to compare and combine, and the order history that moves onto the kept customer. Shopify carries out each merge, and MergeGuard waits for Shopify to confirm it.
What happens on install
- Nothing merges until you confirm, or until you switch on automatic merging for strong matches or groups that need your judgment.
- Automatic merging stays off until you switch it on. It comes with Growth, Scale and Enterprise.
- MergeGuard never messages your customers.
