You ran out of merges: what to do
MergeGuard alerts you at 80% of your allowance and again when none is left. Automatic work stops before the allowance runs out. A bulk merge of strong matches merges some groups and leaves the rest waiting. Monthly plans get a new allowance every month, and an upgrade adds a prorated share of the new plan’s merges.

Check which plan you are on
Monthly plans get a new allowance every month. Yearly plans get the whole year’s merges at the start. The Free plan’s merges are a one-time allowance and don’t reset.
Know what waits
If you don’t have enough merges left for a bulk merge, MergeGuard merges some groups and the rest wait until you have merges available.
Wait for the next allowance or upgrade
An upgrade in the same billing period adds a prorated share of the new plan’s allowance.
Choose which groups to merge first
A group uses its profile count minus one in merges, so a group of 4 uses 3.
What happens when merges run low
- MergeGuard alerts you when 80% of your allowance is used and again when none is left.
- Automatic work stops before your allowance runs out.
- If you ask for a bulk merge of strong matches and don’t have enough merges left, MergeGuard merges some of them and the rest wait until you have merges available.
- Merges you already made stay, because Shopify merges are permanent.

Wait for the next allowance
Monthly plans get a new allowance every month. Yearly plans get the whole year’s allowance at the start of the year. Unused merges don’t carry over, so a new period starts from the new allowance.
Upgrade
An upgrade in the same billing period adds a prorated share of the new plan’s allowance. You make the change in Shopify. See how to upgrade, downgrade or cancel.
On the Free plan
The Free plan includes 25 merges once per store, and they don’t reset. Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial, and merges you already used on Free count toward the trial’s allowance.
Spend merges where they matter
One merge removes one duplicate profile. Counts as profiles − 1 merges: a group of 4 uses 3 merges How your merge allowance works has the numbers for each plan.
Contact fixes use the same kind of allowance
